On crying about election videos

Here is piece written by friends Deniz Erkmen on the recent elections in Turkey and president Erdogan’s position in society.

I think it was Erdoğan’s infamous airport speech when he arrived back from a trip to Tunisia and Morocco on June 2013 during Gezi protests that I watched him intentionally for the last time. There standing in front of thousands of his flag waving supporters that were bussed to the airport, Erdoğan gave a speech at 3 am in his usual style, peppered with all his usual imagery, bending facts, misrepresenting events, provoking. The provocation at that moment was so dangerous, the feeling so tense and on the edge, it was hard to watch, hard to swallow, hard to digest.
